Paroxysm

from Brutality by Aaron Clarke

/

about

This piece was another written during my time studying jazz improvisation with Barry Saunders here at USM, originally for guitar and alto saxophone. The title was applied post facto, drawing on the rather intense style of the piece. “Paroxysm” was written largely as a study for two syncopated voices and where one could go with that, both dramatically and improvisationally.
