about

As a part-time percussionist, and a fan of Edgard Varèse, I had always wanted to write a piece for a percussion ensemble. I strongly hold the opinion that percussion music can function in a harmonic sense, replacing pitch with timbre (hence the title). Though not specifically pitched, the register of each instrument contributes to the overall melodic contour being produced.

Recorded live at the University of Southern Maine on April 7, 2017.
